It’s Time To Shine – Christmas Makeup

We are all of us stars,

and we deserve to twinkle.

Hi Flawsomes!

IT’S NEARLY CHRISTMAS!!!  And what better excuse for us to put on our party dresses, stick on our heels and look good!  (Not that we don’t always!)

Now this blog is all about enjoying life to the full and feeling confident regardless of your age, so in true Flawsome style I have reviewed some glittery party makeup that is perfect for the Christmas party season and will show everyone we’re Flawsome and anything but boring!

I’ve tried to find party makeup that is easy on the pocket

a) because it’s an occasional makeup that won’t get vast amounts of use and

b) it leaves money for those shoes you’ve seen!

I hadn’t used most of these makeup items myself before and after applying them today for this review, I have a few items I love and a few I probably won’t be rushing to use again.  I’m going to start with my favourites.

GLITTER LIPS BY BEAUTY BOULEVARD (£12.50 at time of writing post – available from the Beauty Boulevard website or check their website for stockists)

I originally saw this product when they pitched the product on Dragon’s Den and the programme hadn’t even finished and I had ordered Glitter Lips in “Molly Dolly” colour.  I tried it for the first time today and it’s great!  What a sparkle!  First you apply the gloss which is white when you first apply it but then turns clear.  Once the gloss is clear you generously apply the glitter to your lips and wait for it to dry.  I must add the gloss doesn’t smell too good on application but that soon disappears.  The Glitter Lips stays on regardless of how many Prosecco’s you sip – Beauty Boulevard say it’s Drink, Kiss and Party Proof and it certainly is.

DEFINITELY MY FAVOURITE MAKEUP PRODUCT I TRIED TODAY.

I WILL DEFINITELY BE ORDERING SOME MORE IN DIFFERENT COLOURS.

WILL I ONLY BE WEARING IT FOR THE CHRISTMAS SEASON – CERTAINLY NOT!   I MIGHT EVEN GET SOME TO MATCH MY PYJAMA’S (SILK PYJAMAS OF COURSE – LOL!)

L’OREAL PARIS COLOR RICHE GOLD OBSESSION  LIPSTICKS – IN ROUGE GOLD & PURE GOLD (£6.99 at time of writing post)

I’ve worn this lipstick in Rouge Gold a few times now and I really like it.  It stays on well and has a lovely full colour, with a faint gold shimmer.  Today I used the “Rouge Gold” as a base and added a top coat in “Pure Gold” and I love the effect.  I will definitely be using these lipsticks ….. a lot!

GOLD AND SILVER LOOSE LASER EYE SHADOW GLITTER DUST – (£1.60 each from Amazon UK)

I bought these after my niece sparkled her way around my home a couple of Christmas’ ago.  Dab the loose glitter dust on over a base eye shadow colour using an eye shadow brush.  I used this method for a gentle sparkle but be warned that a small amount of the glitter dust will fall on to your cheeks and surrounding skin and you’ll have to brush it off.  You can buy a fixing gel which you apply first and follow with the glitter dust, but I found the effect too intense for me.

KIKO GLITTER EYELINER

Although it may be difficult to see the effect on the photographs, I really like this Kiko Glitter Gel Eyeliner.  You paint it on over the top of a coloured eyeliner and it gives you a lovely glittery shimmer.  I recently ordered this online from Kiko UK but I can’t find it today on either the UK or European Kiko websites so I can’t give you the price.  So if I were you, I’d rush out to your nearest Kiko Store and hope they have some left in stock.

I also bought Kiko Glitter Eye Pencil in black (£5.90 at time of writing post and available online and instore) but didn’t think too much of it as the glitter effect was very minimal.  However I used it as my base black eyeliner underneath the Glitter Gel Eyeliner and it is lovely and soft to apply and goes on well.

KIKO FALSE LASHES CONCENTRATE GLITTER TOP COAT MASCARA (£7.20 at time of writing post).

Very glittery!  Apply your regular coloured mascara and then apply one or two coats of this Kiko Glitter Top Coat Mascara.

And lastly …… for shiny, beautiful nails at a very reasonable price

NAIL PAINT BY BARRY M (£2.99 at time of writing post).

Apply a base nail colour and use either of these glitter varnishes as a top coat for beautiful sparkly nails.  I especially liked the Diamond Glitter colour which even looked really nice on bare nails.

So before you rush off to the shops to buy your Christmas makeup, shoes, dresses, handbag ….. I’ll leave you with another quote which sums up Flawsome-ness perfectly.

“I never worry about diets.  The only carrots that interest me are the number you get in a diamond.” (Mae West)
